Theme Dinner

Our most recent cheap date was an Asian-Fusion themed dinner. I prepared the food, lit some candles, put on some mood music and threw some large pillows around the coffee table.  On the menu:  pad thai, asian salad, sesame asparagus and green tea.  I meant to make my own fortune cookies and write something romantic in them, but I spaced it.  I did manage to dress accordingly (couldn't find my kimono, so I just wore a kimono-like mini dress).

It was almost exotic!

When Eric got home and saw the meal, he said he wished he had brought me flowers.  Instead, he went to the spare room and whipped one up out of construction paper and scotch tape!  Tres sweet!

DIY Spa Night

Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to kiss those romantic evenings goodbye.  It does mean you have to be a little more creative to find things to do that don't drain the bank account.  For our first budget date after starting Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover, the hubz and I had a DIY Spa Night.

On the Metrosexual Scale, my hubz rates slightly above Neanderthal-- but he did enjoy getting pampered and returning the favor!

To do a DIY Spa Night, you need:  face masks for the facials, big tub of soap and water for pedicures, nail clippers, pumice stone, exfoliating scrub, lotion, towels, candles and good tunes.  You could also do massages and teeth whitening, but we ran out of time (week night date).

My man didn't know how to give a pedicure, so I gave him one first (no polish, of course) and explained what I was doing as I went so he could follow suit.  He did paint my toenails and they look ravishing!  Have I mentioned, I love this man?

It's hard to smile with face masks on...

Now that's what I call pampering!
